Freddy Johnson
Lead Pastor

Freddy and his wife, Helen met in Asheville, NC and have been married for 25 years. They have 2 children, Taylor (24) and Bailey (15).
​
Freddy left the business world after giving his life to Christ in a bar and has been in full-time ministry for 30 years. He has served as a Pastor to Single Adults, Pastor to Missions, Executive Pastor as well as Lead/Senior Pastor. He served as a liaison to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Ministries for seven years and traveled all over the world during that time. He has studied at The Stephon Olford Center for Expository Preaching and Fruitland Bible Institute.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and a Master’s degree in Christian Studies from Luther Rice College and Seminary. He believes God has called him to teach/preach the Bible, help churches and people find their mission and purpose, so they can join God’s work in their city and the world.
Freddy’s life verse is 1 Chronicles 4:10, Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked.

On his day off, he can be found spending time with his family, shuffling (used to be running) and he loves sports of all kinds with football, basketball, and following his daughter’s activities being his primary focus.
Sam Stevens
Adult Discipleship Pastor

Sam Stevens was raised in a Christian home, when he got to the University of South Carolina, he realized that he merely had a head-knowledge of God rather than a heart-knowing of Him. Sam would have told you that Jesus was “a” way, and “his” way, but not necessarily the only way. Through the influence of a godly mentor and the leading of the Holy Spirit, Sam came to profess genuine faith in Christ as a sophomore in college. After that, he became very active in lay leadership and ministry at various churches he attended, including Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, where he had the privilege of meeting and befriending Pastor Freddy. Sam has a heart for discipleship and a passion for teaching and preaching God’s word.

In 2006, he married and pursued a Master of Divinity at Southwestern Seminary. Sam pastored multiple churches from 2009 to 2018. An Army and Gulf War veteran, Sam currently serves as the General Manager of a local moving company. He has four daughters, ages 11 through 17, who reside in the north Tampa area.
Nick Smith
Youth Pastor

Nick Smith is our Youth Minister at North Point. He's 24 years old and grew up in the Columbus, GA area. On May 4 of 2024, Nick graduated from Columbia International University with a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Ministry Studies.
Nick loves the Atlanta Braves, playing disc golf, board games, and video games. At CIU, he was even on the collegiate ESports team that competed in the North American Collegiate ESports division. He is very excited to get to know the students here and point them towards Jesus.
Nick’s Life Verse: But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8~
Melissa Harris
Children's Ministry Director

Melissa loves working with children and helping them learn about God in a fun and engaging way! Over the years, she has taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, and helped plan exciting events like Vacation Bible School (VBS). Her goal is to create a welcoming space where kids can grow in their faith, and she is excited to continue doing that as Children's Director here at North Point!

In Melissa’s spare time she enjoys: Video Editing, and Graphic Design.
​
Her favorite Bible Verse: Galatians 6:7 - Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

Lisa Beasley
Worship Leader

Lisa has been married to her husband Terry for 35 years and is the mother of six children & grandchildren.
​
Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 which says, I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me. (English Standard Version)
Lisa enjoys cooking for her family, gardening and doing home projects.

Praying is her therapy!
Bettine Riggs

Bettine and her husband Steve met through a mutual friend in 1996, a short year later they were married, and their two families became one. Together they have three (3) adult children, Justin, Emily, & Amber. They also have four (4) grandchildren, two (2) nephews, & two (2) nieces, all ranging from 7-26, so you know there is never a dull moment!! Lol
At the age of 41, Bettine returned to school and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice then her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, with honors at the age of 50; proving you are never too old to learn something new and excel at it with God’s support & power. Since obtaining her degree she has felt lead to serve God which led her to meeting Pastor Freddy and eventually North Point Community Church.

Bettine enjoys life through crafting, gardening, spending time with her friends & family, or just sitting by the water delighting in God’s beauty.
Bettine’s Life Verse: Faith, Hope, & Love abide in these three; but the Greatest of these is Love. ~1 Corinthians 13:13~. She uses this verse to remind herself God is “Love” & Love can cover a multitude of sins.
